Frequently Asked Questions

What makes your soap different from store-bought soap?
Our soap is made using the cold process method — real oils and butters saponified then cured for weeks before it's ready to sell. This process retains the natural glycerin that's often stripped out of commercial soap, leaving a more conditioning, gentler bar.

Are your products vegetarian?
Yes, our entire line is vegetarian. Some products contain dairy-based ingredients like goat milk or honey, but nothing derived from meat or animal byproducts beyond that.

Are your products vegan?
Not all of them. Certain formulas contain honey or milk which are vegetarian but not vegan. Check the ingredient list on each product page to confirm.

Are your products paraben-free and phthalate-free?
Yes, every formula in our line — including any fragrance oils we use — is free of parabens and phthalates.

Do you test on animals?
No, we do not test on animals, and we do not use ingredients from suppliers that require animal testing.

Do you use palm oil, and is it sustainably sourced?
Yes, several of our formulas use sustainable, organic palm oil. We understand palm oil sourcing is a genuine concern for many customers, and we only use palm oil from suppliers committed to sustainable, responsible production. You'll always see it listed clearly as "sustainable organic palm oil" in our ingredient lists — never just "palm oil."

Why do some of your soaps have no fragrance?
Fragrance is one of the most common causes of skin sensitivity. Our fragrance-free line is built specifically for skin that needs the gentlest touch, with nothing added beyond what the formula itself needs.

Ingredients & Safety

Should I patch test before using a new product?
Yes, we recommend patch testing any new product before regular use. Apply a small amount to a discreet area of skin and wait 24 hours before full use. Discontinue immediately if irritation occurs.

Where can I find the full ingredient list for a product?
Every product page includes a complete ingredient list. If you have known allergies or sensitivities, please review this before purchasing.

Are your products safe during pregnancy?
We're not able to give medical advice. If you're pregnant or nursing, please consult your doctor before using any new skincare product, and review the ingredient list carefully.

Orders & Shipping

How much does shipping cost?
We ship flat rate within the United States: Standard is $8.00 and Express is $15.00. Standard shipping is free on orders of $65 or more. The rate is the same no matter how much you order or where in the US you are.

How long does it take for my order to ship?
Please allow 2–5 business days for processing before your order ships. Some newer or made-to-order items may take slightly longer due to our cure process.

How long does delivery take once my order ships?
Standard arrives in 3–5 business days. Express arrives in 1–2 business days.

How long will my order take in total?
Processing and delivery are separate, so add them together. A Standard order typically arrives 5–10 business days after you place it; an Express order 3–7 business days.

Does Express make my order ship sooner?
No. Express speeds up carrier delivery only, not the 2–5 business days we need to prepare your order. If you need something by a specific date, email us at contact@shopsatinandsage.com before ordering and we'll tell you honestly whether it's possible.

Do you ship internationally?
At this time, we currently ship within the United States only.

Can I change my shipping address after placing an order?
Email us at contact@shopsatinandsage.com as soon as possible. We'll do our best to update it before your order ships, but can't guarantee changes once processing has started.

Returns & Exchanges

Can I return a product if I don't like it?
Due to the handmade, personal-care nature of our products, we don't accept returns or offer refunds outside of items damaged in transit.

What if my order arrives damaged?
Email us at contact@shopsatinandsage.com within 7 days of delivery with your order number and photos of the damage. We'll arrange an exchange for the same item, or one of equal value if it's no longer available. Buyer covers return shipping.

About Our Process

How long do your products last?
Shelf life varies by product and is typically noted on each product page, generally ranging from 12 to 24 months depending on the formula.

Why do some bars cost more than others?
Pricing reflects the ingredients and process behind each bar — formulas with butters like cocoa butter, specialty additives, or complex fragrance blends cost more to produce than our simpler, everyday bars.

Contact

How do I contact you?
Email us at contact@shopsatinandsage.com, or send us a message on Instagram at @satinandsagesoap. You can also use the form on our Contact page.

What should I include when I write about an order?
Your order number, and photos if anything arrived damaged. That lets us sort it out in one reply instead of several back and forth.
